Fairfield Voices for Equity is a coalition of parents, educators, and community members committed to ensuring that institutions in Fairfield, CT, reflect our community values of belonging, equity, and accountability.We formed in response to recent events that revealed serious gaps in transparency and community engagement in public decision-making. We are focused on improving transparency and accountability from our public officials and amplifying our community's voices in local government.
What We're Doing:Sharing the facts
A lack of local journalism has made it difficult, especially for working families, to stay informed about local politics. Word of mouth and social media can be effective, but they can also be distorted by rumors and unverified information. It's important to know what actually happened, who made decisions, and why.Advocating for transparent government
Recent decisions, particularly within Fairfield Public Schools, have raised questions about how public choices are made and who is involved in the process. Aligning these decisions with our community values and input may require meaningful reform, as well as improved practices.Amplifying parent and community voices
